The Senedd welcomed its 500,000th visitor on Tuesday October 23rd.

Maura Buckley from Abergavenny visited the Senedd as part of a day out in Cardiff to celebrate her 71st Birthday with her sister Esther Lewis from Govilon – and became the 500,000th visitor since the Senedd opened in February 2006.

To mark the occasion, Miss Buckley, who is originally from Cork in Ireland, was presented with a goody bag full of gifts from the Assembly shop in the Pierhead by The Chief Executive and Clerk to the Assembly Claire Clancy, who is also from the Abergavenny area. The two sisters also received a guided tour of the Senedd and completed their first visit to the Senedd with a complimentary cup of tea and piece of cake from the Senedd’s Coffee shop.

Miss Buckley said “I’ve wanted to visit the Senedd since it opened and as we were in Cardiff for the day we thought we’d call in. Being the 500, 000th visitor was quite a surprise, but it’s added to a lovely birthday!”
