Exceeding savings targets and increasing visitor numbers are among the highlights in this year’s annual report from the National Assembly for Wales.
The Assembly Commission delivered savings of more than half a million pounds, exceeding its savings target.
Other achievements include:
- Hosting 83,680 visitors to the Senedd, an 8% increase on the previous year
- More than 26,000 people took a Senedd tour in the last year, 20% more than last twelve months;
- More than 27,000 young people across Wales took part in sessions with the Education and Youth Engagement team, informing, involving and empowering them to engage in politics;
- Listed as a top 10 family friendly employer in the UK by the Working Families Organisation; and
- Ranked fifth in Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index 2017 as well as being ranked the top public sector employer in the UK and named the Top Public Sector Body in Wales for the fourth year running.
Chief Executive and Clerk to the Assembly Manon Antoniazzi said:
“This report sums up a year of achievement and well-managed change. Major legislative and constitutional developments are upon us, and our efforts to engage with the public on the issues that matter to them has never been more important. We have an ambitious programme to deliver, holding government to account, and making the work of the Assembly more relevant and accessible. This report also outlines our priorities as we look to build on our progress.”
Llywydd and Chair of the Assembly Commission Elin Jones AM said:
“Our institution must keep striving for excellence by continuous improvement. This report demonstrates examples of significant change throughout the year and how we have delivered an ambitious set of priorities.”
