Three-quarters of a million people have now visited the Senedd, in Cardiff Bay, since it opened in 2006.

And the 750,000 visitor was Alison Bennett from Dartford, in Kent.

She was visiting Cardiff, with her parents David and Gillian, to watch the Speedway Grand Prix at the Millennium Stadium.

"It’s the first time we come to Cardiff, but if this is the welcome it won't be our last visit,” David said.

The Bennetts took advantage of the free tours offered to visitors to the Senedd building.

And they were welcomed by the National Assembly for Wales’ Chief Operating Officer Dianne Bevan.

She said: “It is great that so many people have come through the doors of the Senedd since it was opened three years ago.

“It is important that as many people as possible come in and see what work we are doing.

"And it’s also nice to see that we’re getting visitors from as far afield as Dartford in Kent. It means the Senedd is a key tourist attraction as well.”
