17/07/2019

Arwyn Jones has been appointed as the new Director of Communications and Engagement at the National Assembly for Wales.

Arwyn is currently BBC Cymru Wales's Political Correspondent having held a number of senior journalistic roles over the last 15 years.  He is a Politics graduate of the University of Aberystwyth.

The director will be the principal strategic lead on our communications and engagement channels and will be responsible for delivering our ambition of enhancing the Assembly's reputation as a strong, accessible, inclusive and innovative parliament, making a real difference for the people of Wales. The appointment was made following a rigorous competitive recruitment process.

Manon Antoniazzi, the Clerk and Chief Executive of the National Assembly said: "With our new Youth Parliament, ongoing Assembly and electoral reform and broader constitutional matters in flux, it is a particularly interesting and important time to join the Assembly team.

"I'm delighted to have attracted a talented and widely-respected new director and have no doubt that Arwyn's vision and skills will be huge assets to us as our democracy enters its next transformational stage."

Arwyn Jones said: "After observing the work of the Assembly for the past decade and a half, I'm really looking forward to taking up my role at such an exciting time of constitutional change. Reaching out, and engaging with voters presents challenges and opportunities and I can't wait to get stuck in."

Arwyn will take up his post in September 2019.
