Visit us in Cardiff Bay

Visit Siambr Hywel, the Assembly’s dedicated youth debating chamber, to experience the role of an Assembly Member. The Assembly offers three education visits a day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during these time slots:

10.00 – 12.00, 11.00 – 13.00, 13.00 – 14.30, (13.00 – 15.00 on Thursdays)

  • Education visit - A two hour visit which includes a debate in Siambr Hywel, a workshop activity and a visit to the Senedd. These visits are available Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and all day Thursday and are suitable for ages 7-16, 16+, colleges, Politics students and Welsh Bacc groups (48 pupils maximum).

  • School Council visit - A special visit for School Councils which includes the opportunity to hold a School Council meeting in Siambr Hywel, an activity and a visit to the Senedd. Tickets to watch Plenary on Tuesdays and Wednesdays are available if required (20 pupils maximum).
  • Plenary Visit - A one and a half hour visit which includes a debate in Siambr Hywel and tickets to watch Plenary, a meeting of all 60 Assembly Members in the Senedd. These visits are available Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons only for 16+ pupils (30 pupils maximum).
  • Sustainable Senedd (ages 7-11) - A special visit for primary schools which focuses on the environment as a theme. The visit includes a debate in Siambr Hywel on an environmental topic and an extended visit around the Senedd. The pupils complete a workbook during their visit to the Senedd and learn about the eco features of the building. The visit is suitable for ages 7-11 and eco-councils (35 pupils maximum).

Important Information:

  • Your local Assembly Members will be invited to meet with you during your visit but, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee they will be able to attend.
  • Apart from School Council visits, groups should be from one key stage only.
  • We welcome special schools and other youth groups.
  • A lunch area is available for morning visits.
  • You can arrange for an Education Officer to visit your school or college before or after your visit.

    A subsidy towards travel costs to the Senedd is available for eligible schools.
