The Representation of the People Order (SI 1999/450) is made, setting out the arrangements for the Assembly elections.

Secretary of State for Wales, The Rt Hon Ron Davies MP, announces that he has accepted the recommendation of the design panel for the new Assembly building in favour of the Richard Rogers Partnership.

'1. I agree that there should be a Welsh Assembly; or

2. I do not agree that there should be a Welsh Assembly'


Result: Yes 50.3%, No 49.7%
