The Research Service provides specialist parliamentary support to all 60 Assembly Members and the Assembly's Committees. We are completely independent of the Welsh Government.

The Research Service consists of:

  • four research teams providing specialist advice on specific areas of policy
  • a Financial Scrutiny Unit providing advice on Assembly finance, budgets, taxation and interpreting statistics
  • specialists providing advice on the Assembly, the constitution, UK and EU legislation, elections and referendums
  • a Library providing a full range of reference and information services.

You can access a range of research briefings and information produced by the Research Service from this website and our blog, In Brief.

  • Sign up to In Brief to receive email alerts about our latest blog posts and publications relevant to Assembly Business
  • Follow us on Twitter @SeneddResearch

Our publications are primarily aimed at Assembly Members, and may also be of interest to external organisations and individuals.

Providing an effective research service requires us to have access to up-to-date information from external organisations and individuals with knowledge and expertise in relevant subject areas. If you would like further information about our work, or you have publications you think would be useful to our researchers, please use the contact details below:
