National Eye Health Week
This Assembly:
- Recognises the Seventh Annual National Eye Health Week in the UK and Wales
- Calls on all Assembly Members to urge constituents to book a sight test
Notes that:
- 50% of all sight loss is avoidable
- 1 in 10 people do not have a regular sight test
- Everyone should have their eyes tested every two years, or every year if there is family history of glaucoma
- NHS eye tests are free for people aged 60+
- Sight tests can lead to early detection and treatment of eye conditions and prevent avoidable sight loss
