Cross-Party Group on the Welsh Built Environment

Chair

Purpose

  • The group will seek to promote understanding amongst Assembly Members and other relevant groupsabout the Welsh built environment sector, to ensure that Wales has a world-class construction industry delivering best value for its clients, a safe environment on its sites and a proper career path and employment prospects for its people.

Previous Meetings

  • 28th April 2010 - the Group discussed business support programmes for the built environment sector, including ProAct, ReAct and FS4B.

  • 20th October 09 - the Group discussed sustainability and the impact on the sector of the impending devolution of building regulations and the good work that the sector is already doing in terms of up-skilling ready for implementation of Code Level 3-5.

  • 7 May 09 - the Group discussed procurement procedures in the built environment sector and decided to write to the Welsh Assembly Government's Minister for Finance and Public Service Delivery and update him on our decisions.

  • 5 March 09: Inaugural Meeting of the Group
    The Group formalised its remit and discussed a range of issues which formed its 'key themes' paper. The Group agreed to discuss capital investment and public sector procurement at the next meeting.
