Committee for the Scrutiny of the First Minister

The Committee for the Scrutiny of the First Minister was established on 22 February 2005. As set out in Standing Order 18A, the Committee's purpose was to take oral evidence from the First Minister on any matter within Ministers’ fields of accountability or other responsibilities (other than the Business Minister’s responsibilities for business). The Committee could request additional written evidence from the First Minister on the matters covered by that oral evidence. The Committee consisted of the Subject Committee Chairs and the Chairs of the Audit Committee, the Committee on Equality of Opportunity and the Committee on European and External Affairs. The Committee was chaired by the Chair of the Audit Committee. The Committee met in public for the purposes of taking oral evidence from the First Minister once in every sixteen weeks that the Assembly met in plenary.
