The Committee’s remit was broadly based on and mirrored the portfolio of the Assembly Minister for Economic Development and Transport. This portfolio covered:

  • industrial policy and business support;
  • inward investment;
  • promotion of indigenous companies and regional development;
  • transport;
  • energy;
  • tourism;

  • the Structural Funds.
In line with the change toMinisterial titles,from 1 April 2006the Economic Development and Transport Committee was renamed the Enterprise, Innovation and Networks Committee.   The main functions of subject committees, as set out in Standing Order 9, were: policy development; scrutiny of Ministers and Assembly Sponsored Bodies; and scrutiny of legislation.
