Policy Objectives of the Bill
1. End the availability of the defence of ‘lawful chastisement’ for an offence of assaulting a child.
Support received
2. It is expected that the Bill will receive support from children rights groups and other organisations. Previous legislative attempts in Westminster before the 2011 Welsh referendum have received widespread and cross party support.
Consultation
3. No consultation at this stage
